Midi Help

The other day I had some EXE's of synth's made for me. These synths were made by 3 different people and where used on 3 different computers. The problem is that when you use the computer keyboard not all the keys work , that is some notes do not play. Yet if a real midi keyboard is attached to the computer there is no problem, all notes play fine. Anyone know why the computer keyboards will NOT play all the notes?
