Fanan - sharing with you my very first release

Postby kortezzzz » Tue Jan 05, 2016 1:05 am

This is my very first release as a developer, and since my site is already off (as I'm preparing to the
next level with new interesting release, not FS based) decided to share it with you, especially with
the newcomers that would like to learn some basics. So, whats so special with this release
comparing to other subtractive 3 osc. synths? Mostly some rare features you probably won't expect to find in such a design:

1) Built-in micro-tuner - Allow you to microtune any note 100\-100 cent of one or more notes or tune all the same note in all the octaves. This feature is top wanted in the oriental genre (please google "Arabic Scale" for more info). A big credit for this feature goes to Trog that helped me to do it properly.

2) Radio buttons based waveform menu- Found it quite much fun to use comparing to the boring

knob based switch or drop menus.

3) Midi based octaver - Allow you to play 2 notes octave with a chosen 2th note.

4) Morph waveforms

5) Fixed velocity mode

6) Velocity limiter mode

7) Right mouse click midi learn\forget

8) Send each osc separately into any built-in effect

9) On - GUI presets bank manager

10)Radio buttons based preset manager

The link contains only the schematic file (had to archive it with winrar to meet the 2mb file size limitation). Feel free to borrow, modify, upgrade, etc.

Cheers!

Thanks bobF. By the way, my user name kortezzzz. The plugin's name is Fanan :)

Since this one was un-touched for long time (released in back then in 2014), I've messed a little with graphics and other structures before the share and few mistakes had been done ( ). So here is the fix. Please let me know if any other irregulars occur.

Cheers.

This is a Masterwork!
You've set the bar too high for me!

I just love the whole thing and the look of it is just amazing. You should be justly very proud of this.

I've had an initial quick play around and I have a few comments:
On the front panel you have "P.B. Rannge" which I think you mean "P.B. Range".
I had the usual totally crap issue of stuck notes. This has been reported to MyCo and I really do hope Malc sorts this issue very soon. In the meantime you could try setting the voices number to a higher value like 32 since I found that stuck notes are a bit less likely then.
The button "Save Preset" is a bit misleading. Maybe use "Name preset" since you can save using the menu button.

I shall play with this a lot more and post any other points arising but I have to say this... AMAZING!

Cheers

Thanks a lot, Spogg

The whole 3 issues can be easily fixed. About the 3th comment: the correct function of this button is "name the preset, then save it", since after the naming, the preset is saved automatically. Decided to keep it "save preset" because that's the main function.

Any other comments are welcome. Thanks again :)

*Edit: following spogg's comments, everything is fixed. Updated the first post with an actual download link (from external server. I've passed the 2mb limitation... )
cheers :)

Another update with a complete new feature:

The waveform library is expended and now you're allowed to import any wavetable (.wav format) into the synth's by using the "user" section, while the built-in text wavetables are determined as "core".

How it works?
Use the "import" button to open a wav. file from any location on your hard-drive. Once it opened, the synth would then import it to "C:\Users\USER\Documents\Fanan\wavetables" and would save it there + create a matching text file for future use automatically. From that point and on, it would be shown in the "user" wavetable libraries, and would be fully usable, until you remove it manually from the folder. Note that it's recommended to use only wav. files with max size of 600 samples, or FS would stack when morphing. The osc.s can't yet combine "user" and "core" wavetable, so you would have to choose which mode you would like to use (per osc). The current download (I've updated the original from the first post) contains the fsm. file + the "system folder" called "Fanan" which you should extract as is to your "My documents" folder.

Cheers!

I think that it is very generous of you. Especially for new Flowstoners it is a sandbox paradise to have a professional grade (it was sold years ago) full featured synthesizer to learn from.

On behalf of all the silent crowd, that will be downloading this like crazy but never comment it, I say thank you.

Well, I've decided to share some stuff since i've been in very "tulamidey" mood this week. :)
Guess who is the responsible for that?... ;)

Thank you too, tulamide. For the feedback and the the major help.

I found this and it's actually quite a recent paid-for release:

Once again I give so many thanks for the priviledge to look under the bonnet and maybe learn something.

Cheers
