The Quilcom SIM-AUTOHARP

Hello everyone!

I’ve had a go at making an Autoharp simulation after my lovely Sue bought me an antique one to intrigue me (which it did!). These come in all sorts of variations historically, so I chose to make a more flexible generic one rather than pick the most popular 21 button Oscar Schmidt one which is still manufactured today.

On this one you have 40 virtual strings and 3 scales which you can set yourself.

This makes use of Martin’s amazing Karplus-Strong resonators (modified to run in Blue) which are SO much better than the ones I’ve made before.

The tricky thing to implement was strumming, which is what Autoharps were intended for; to be used like a rhythm guitar would be in a modern setting. The methods I chose mean the plugin must be set to render/freeze/bounce in real time x1 in your DAW.

I won’t go into greater detail because you can find it in the download:

Here’s my video:

I hope you have a bit of fun with it.

Very cool ! Thanks to share !
I like how we could use the y axis control to make some note almost inaudible and other's arpeggio more present !
An instinctive way to create cool melody !

Thank you! :D
One issue I often face when simulating something is the control system available to me and most users. A keyboard with modwheel, pitch bend and a sustain pedal is often very restricting.

Thanks Martin! :D

Your module is beautifully in tune over the whole span and I was even able to add a (totally inauthentic) pitch bend. The decay time reduction over the span is just right too. Thank you!
