Re: New Synth: X11

Postby billv » Sun Mar 31, 2013 11:28 am

The X11 has been updated to 2.0
NEW FEATURES:
* New timing systems.
* Clock locked to VST Time, the rest gets Tempo time
* New Arp
* 7 ways to generate notes
Image
* New Ticker send option to control Arp sequences
Image
* New value display when moving tickers
Image
CASUALTIES:
* X Box Module
* Advanced timing options
GENERAL REPORT:
I thought i would have to build a whole new system, but in the end i cheated, and just dropped the
FS timing systems in, and fixed the subsequent issues. Its not real pretty in the FSM, but this release
was just about getting the "timing platform" right. I know I should re-build/re-design the whole thing.
But that's another day.
As usual, please report any bugs.

Thanks. It's going alright so far. My notepad has about 6 issues/bugs already. Most are minor.

This update is just the "timing fix". The whole thing going to have to be re-built.
I've built another 3 new seq systems already....next update will be huge...but will be a long way
off cause I want to keep experimenting/learning ruby.
So i hope to avoid the constant updating like last year. 1 or 2 updates a year should be fine.
(Hopefully the 2.0 update can stand on it's own for a few months)

Yes it is. if your new to it, the general advice is "Disable" the matrix trigger System, select
"User" mode in the Seq and play it like a normal synth. One hand one your keys, the other using
mouse to tweak and learn what's going on.
The Trigger System takes the Synth somewhere else, so it might help to think of the X11, as two
synths in one. When this trigger system is on, the X11 is basicly a "Clock", with options for synthsis
attached. The Trigger System is also a "Compositional" tool. It's a de-facto automation system.
It turns the X11 almost into a D.A.W. I like to think of it as a band, where the matrix triggers are
the players(instruments), and the the actual triggers tell them when to play or the shut up :D .
The "Random all trigger" button is a "songwriter", creating a new musical piece in one hit.
so yeah, when it's all too much, work via "subtraction". Try simple stuff. A few triggers at a time.
Best way is of course, load X11 (VST) into your current song, copy/paste a riff from your song to the
X11. Run the host, sit back and listen to what happens to your song, ha ha ha ha ha :lol: :lol: :lol: .
