SparkFun Serial 7 Segment Display

Here's an example on how to comunicate with the SparkFun serial seven segment display:https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11441?
These are available in Reg, Blue, Green, Yellow & White
We have connected it to the PC using a 5V FTDI USB-serical cable: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9717?
The wiring is very simple and can be seen here:
In this example we have shown how to send an +/- number to the display with a flashing colon. It is also possible to send alphanumeric characters to the display.
