First define what kind of feel your layout should give to the user. For example - Clumsy but sophisticated, clean but vibrant, random but eye-catching. Then close your eyes and picture it in your head. Get a mili second glimse of whatever you wanna create. Try creating it. And keep doing it until you are satisfied.
